I grew up a flatlander in New Jersey, where describing a geographical feature would be limited to the following: street, hill, woods, or the beach. For 10 days, we drove around the Big Island of Hawaii exploring everything above and below the water. We made stops to stay in Kona, Naalehu, Mountain View, Hilo,  Kawaihae, and plenty of places in between. We brought our own snorkeling gear so that we could hop in to the ocean anywhere we could.
