Greatest Nap Of My Life | Iceland

Picture yourself standing on the top of a mountain, in Iceland, surrounded by massive, white-capped peaks to the east, and an endless coastline to the west. For most people this would be the pinnacle of a trip, that beautiful, scenic moment where everyone is staring out in the distance and reminiscing on how incredible the days in that mysterious country have been. However, this was not the case for the four of us. At that moment I just described, we had been traveling for nearly 16 straight hours and had only in Iceland for  about 4 hours. Normal people would …

Hike Mount Katahdin

Every year in the fall, a group of friends get together to hike up a mountain in New England. In the past, it’s been Mount Washington, up in New Hampshire. This year, the seven of us made the trek up north to Baxter State Park in Millinocket, Maine. Eight hours in the car later, we made it to the Katahdin Stream Campground. Baked beans and hotdogs o’ plenty were all set for the weekend. After a night around the campfire eating and star gazing into the beautiful, clear Main skies, we set off for our tents as the cold-front came …

The Jump from Climbing Gym to Outdoor Crag

Picture yourself climbing up the third pitch of a massive rock face that overlooks the valley floor below as the sun is setting on your back during a late summer climbing trip with your friends. Or at least that’s what Instagram has implanted in your mind of what climbing is, and you are ready to take the plunge from the gym into the big-time world of climbing outdoors. Assuming you’re like most climbers, you started in the exciting, yet controlled environment of a climbing gym close to your house. You’ve finally gained the confidence on all the 5.10s the gym …

Hiking the Stratton Pond Loop [Video]

An overnight hiking trip that took us into the beautiful Green Mountains of Vermont where the Appalachian Trail meets up with the Long Trail. This loop takes you up to the summit of Stratton Mountain and ends by a pristine lake at the base on the back side. Lakeside camping is the gem of this route. Bluebird day for the entire hike and couldn’t ask for more than pepperoni over the fire… am I right?! Zachary KenneyHi there, my name is Zachary Kenney and I’m an adventure filmmaker & photographer.  My passion is to tell stories that will hopefully motivate …

Best Year of My Life: 2015 Year in Review

Woah. What can I say about 2015? It came and went, like a set of exploding fireworks being fired from a monster truck that was driven by a tiger in a Top Gun flight suit….. Awesome. It was a year of firsts, seconds, and once-is-enoughs. 2015 took me to new heights and far off places, literally. I’ve learned an incredible amount that cannot even begin to be quantified or put into words, but I will try. Rather than try to force wisdom upon anyone, I’ll just stick to how my goal that I set for myself turned 2015 into the best …

Hiking the Franconia Ridge

44°09′39″N 71°38′40″W One of the most rigorous, yet beautiful, hikes in the Northeast, and absolutely worth it for the views. Located in the beautiful town of Franconia, NH, Mount Lafayette was easily accessible from Route 93 which runs through the Franconia notch between Franconia Ridge and Cannon Mountain. After a late start to the morning, we finally made it to the parking lot around 11:30AM. We knew that this was going to take 6-7 hours, which meant daylight was going to be scarce by the time we reached the bottom. Our plan was to knock off Lafayette, Lincoln, and Little Haystack …

Exhausting Weekend in Acadia & Bar Harbor, Maine

The part of Maine on everyone’s Bucket List, Bar Harbor & Acadia National Park. A place famous for fresh lobster rolls caught locally and a beautiful landscape that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. Only a seven hour drive and 1 quick stop for dinner, at Liquid Riot Bottle Co in Portland, we finally arrived at our KOA campground around midnight. This would normally not be an issue, but when you planned to do everything that this island had to offered in one weekend, it was going to be a rough one. 3 hours later we were awake, headlamps on, dressed, and …

Outdoor Climbing: Ragged Mountain

The perfect mixture of scared and stoked, is the best way for me to describe my first outdoor rock climbing experience. I am a very bad example when doing something for the first time. I usually just google the activity that I want to do, watch a few YouTube videos, and then go out and do it. That usually works well for something like basketball or knitting, not so much outdoor rock climbing. Granted, I had been climbing indoors for quite a while now, so it wasn’t my climbing skills that I was concerned with. I found a mountain, Ragged …
