A Proper Epic: A Wild Ski Touring Story Experience

Epic (/ˈepik/): When a proposed plan goes to sh!t and you find yourself off route; taking place usually in the dark. This past Tuesday night, my buddy Pete and I decided to check out a new zone to ski tour. The plan was to ski Mount Aire in Lambs Canyon. The peak is visible every time you drive East on 80 going from Park City to Salt Lake, and for that reason, I wanted to ski it! So we met up in the parking lot, just off the exit and went over our “plan.” I had no beta about his …

Go Hike Lake Blanche

As bad as it sounds, I try to stay away from hikes and outdoors activities that get too much praise and hype. It might just be the hipster in me, but when a  hiking trail get’s nearly 1,800 5-star reviews on AllTrails.com, it’s hard to believe it’s going to be a challenging one. The only time that many people review a trail, or anything for that matter, it’s usually something super easy and perfect for the out-of-shape, family-friendly hikers. For those hikes, which commonly get described as a 1-mile trail, entirely flat, and finishes at a pretty waterfall. However, this …

The Pfeifferhorn [Video]

The Wasatch Range has been an incredible place to explore since moving here. The landscape and topography varies so much in such short distance, and the cottonwoods are the epitome of that diversity. And the Pfeifferhorn has been the most epic hike yet! In just under 10 miles, you climb and scramble up nearly 4,000 vertical feet. A true classic that you must do.   For the full story, check it out here AllTrails.com info for the Hike

The Pfeifferhorn | Wasatch Mountains

If you couldn’t tell by now, I like to make spontaneous decisions in the hopes that they result in incredible experiences.  Rather than research and map out every detail for a trip, I do the bare minimum so that I’ll be safe. As for the rest, I try not to look at any pictures or trip reports ahead of time so that I can experience it all for myself in person when I get there. And this could have been more apparent when I decided to hike the Pfeifferhorn. It all started when I was reading an article in this …

Wasatch Crest Trail | Mountain Bike Ride

The Wasatch Crest Trail is one of the most epic trails I’ve ever ridden. A true classic ride in Northern Utah that everyone must do at least once in their life. All of which I did not know prior to riding it. A buddy of mine I had met on a MeetUp ride in Little Cottonwood Canyon asked me if I wanted to shuttle Wasatch Crest one night last week. I said “Sure, sounds like a blast!” But I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Silly me, thought a shuttle ride was just taking a shuttle van …
